Issue 29893: Installer Stuck at Downloading Reported by dben.@gmail.com, Dec 9 2009. Now if I try to run the normal installer, it gets stuck at Downloading Google Chrome. I was able to download and install it using the standalone installer, and if I go to about it shows an update available, but gets stuck at installing.
Thankfully, you can change your proxy setting (for Windows) and fix Chrome’s corresponding behavior:

- Click the Chrome menu button on the browser toolbar
- Select Settings
- Click Show advanced settings
- In the “Network” section, click Change proxy settings. This will open the Windows Internet Properties dialog
- Click LAN settings
- Deselect the “Automatically detect settings” checkbox

Deselect the “Automatically detect settings” option
This should eliminate the delay and make Chrome work properly again!
